Lead Acid Battery:	A lead-acid Battery uses (surprise) lead and acid in order to chemically produce and maintain a charge. Generally speaking, sulfuric acid eats into lead plates which produces a charge along with hydrogen gas. This hydrogen gas is why you don't want to smoke around lead acid batteries.
